In accordance with the requirements of the international management system standard ISO 45001:2018, we have implemented comprehensive processes and systems which are divided into four phases in the sense of a continuous improvement process which also specifies binding minimum requirements for all Group companies: PLAN - DO - CHECK - ACT. These minimum requirements are set out in the thyssenkrupp Occupational Safety and Health Management Manual. Their effectiveness is regularly checked by audits and - wherever appropriate - confirmed by external certification. In fiscal year 2020/21 almost three quarters of all thyssenkrupp employees in Group companies were working with certified occupational health and safety management systems.


A functioning organization is of crucial importance here. It is essential to clearly define and make known the tasks, responsibilities and authorities. This applies to all players: managers and employees, occupational safety specialists, company physicians and health managers, employee representatives and, where necessary, safety, radiation and laser protection officers, etc. Corresponding committees have been set up at every level of thyssenkrupp and hold regular meetings. This ensures good cooperation with close consultation and monitoring.


At thyssenkrupp we have extensive effectiveness control measures. In addition to regular inspections and so-called \\\"gemba walks\\\", we carry out internal and external audits as well as surveys of our employees and use early and late indicators. Incidents, including near-accidents, are investigated by us according to defined procedures.


At thyssenkrupp we are doing well, as our accident frequency rate (see below) shows. But we can always do better. That's why the findings from CHECK are incorporated into the next PLAN phase. A continuous improvement process.


thyssenkrupp has submitted its occupational safety and health management manual for independent review. An external review confirmed that the management manual meets the requirements of ISO 45001:2018.


Accident statistics show that thyssenkrupp is on the right path in terms of occupational safety. The key indicator used worldwide in this context is the accident frequency rate, which represents the number of occupational accidents resulting in at least one day's absence from work per million hours worked. It decreased year-on-year to 2.3.


After contact restrictions, predominantly home office, testing, vaccination and co, the Corona situation in 2022 appears comparatively calm. Nevertheless, we are keeping an eye on the situation and report regularly on the situation at thyssenkrupp around the world. Whether regional lockdowns or renewed vaccination campaigns: thyssenkrupp is prepared.


Health is of great importance to everyone. And the health of employees is also crucial to the success of companies. It influences the productivity, motivation and the volume of time off due to illness of the workforce. At thyssenkrupp we have defined six areas of health promotion to provide comprehensive and systematic support for employee health: Nutrition, exercise, stress management, addiction prevention, medical screenings, and the prevention of other non-work-related risks.
